The Housing Authority of the City of Barnesville was created in 1957 to help fill the need for decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing in Lamar County. By administering and developing housing opportunities for citizens of low to moderate incomes, the Authority has been able to provide not only housing stock, but also essential self-sufficiency skills crucial to assisting residents in moving up and out of public housing.
What do we do?
Barnesville and Jackson Housing Authorities provide safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. We use a waiting list based on when someone has applied to house people based on availability in our units.
We are a fair housing and equal opportunity organization, so we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, physical or mental handicap, familial status, national origin, or other protected class.
